where is my dhrAkshai (where are my grapes?)

Right after I take a bath and get dressed, I excitedly come to the kitchen to do "sevvichi" (to pray to God). It is always a race between pAdukA and me to get the dried grapes as "prasadam" (offering). Getting the grapes bowl and therefore the control of giving the other person what they feel like is a big deal. I think justice was not served today :( I came first to the kitchen and did more sevvichi than pAdukA but ammA refuses to give me my "beeee"(dhrAkshai) Curiously pAdukA did not stay to get her share! Something is fishy... Here is the video evidence. So please write to me if you know what is going on.

My vocabulary

I have been trying hard to make the same sound as the people around me but when I do it, all I hear is how cute it is. There are so many things I want to say but now I have decided to take two syllables at  a time and signing along with that to communicate. Here is a peek into my dictionary so they we can talk the next time we meet.

kikki - I coined this term to tell when it hurts (boo boo) I taught this word to my parents and they love it so much that they use this all the time :)

ammA ammA - This is for addressing ammA but I use this interchangeably with apA.

apA apA - This is how I call my appA and at times anyone to get their attention. My parents keep correcting me when I use apA and ammA interchangeably. I do not understand the difference, I get attention I need anyway.

mee - Could be a fish or cat based on the context. I get excited when I see a cat. "mee" That's how cats sound right?

thee/kee - I shorten even the shortened form of a word. Why say "theethaa" when "thee" conveys that you need water?

mum - Saying "mum mum" for food is redundant, so I shortened it just "mum"

pAppa - pAdukA wanted me to call her akkA but I decided to call her pAppa (means baby :) She felt teased for a long time but now she responds to anyone calling/saying pAppa :)

achittaa means she beat me :) I say this when pAdukA troubles me. Even the little distress will make me complain "achittaa" :)

"paa" means milk. I say this and ammA gets excited and runs around me with glass of milk hoping I will drink it :) Does "paa" really mean milk or playtime ;)

thaachi - Means to lie down. I cannot resist saying thaachee whenever I see a soft and fluffy blanket. In fact I picked up a blanket in the shop and did not stop say "thaachee" and resting my head on it. In the end ammA bought it for me :)

"aaggee" -  say this and I will give you a warm hug and pat you with my little hands.

Here is a glimpse of the many complaints I communicate about pAdukA. She gets into trouble for it ;)

Imitation

It is easy to be a grown up. Here is my strategy - Imitate the big people all the time. Lo and behold you are a BIG girl :)
Getting some water - Grab a glass and go near the filter and hit it hard. Still to figure out what the big people do to get the water flowing. But this is good enough for them to admire my effort.

Watering plants - Take the watering can and turn it up side down near each of the plant pots. I have become so good that ammA follows me around copying what I do everyday.

Nodding head - Learning from a online class is so easy. All you have to do is sit before the computer and keep nodding. I think I am a better student as my nods are big and frequent than ammA's.

Speaking over phone - This is a baby's old adult imitation trick. It has become so essential that pediatricians should consider adding it to the questionnaire on milestones :) I love running to the phone and compelling the adults to pick it up when it rings :)

Using some fancy words - Just like the older people do, I use some the only fun word I know - "plaapits" (which is what planets sound like when I say it 0:)

Even though I try to copy, being a baby and showing my puppy face helps me get out of trouble. When I say "Aagee, aagee" (meaning huggie:) I get pampered and hugged. Hmmm.. becoming a big girl is over rated afterall.

Here is how I make a compelling request to be hugged and carried :) Even though I sound like an alarm, it is considered cute! One of the many perks of being a baby.

Little bully

My parents call me a rowdy and ammA keeps telling me why I make pAdukA look like a very obedient girl growing up. Whose fault is it if someone keeps tempting me to have fun?

pAdukA keeps presenting her food in front of me for a long time. Be it milk or saadam (rice), I resist my urge to dip my hand into it for a long time. After giving enough time , I take a whirl while pAdukA keeps calling for help. When my parents appear in the scene, they catch me food handed ;) and I have to run to save myself from a barrage of hugs, kisses and friendly warnings. The only unhappy person in this seems to be pAdukA. I love it when she shouts for help. I feel she is cheering me on and I also make loud noise when troubling her :)

Oh you should see how pAdukA screams for help when I go into the restroom and take her underwear and run. She gets really upset that she cannot come out without it. It is just super fun when ammA/appA comes to her rescue to get it from me :)It is a noisy situation and I add to it by squealing (my prank cry)

It is easy to put pAdukA in a spot of bother. When pAdukA snatches something from me, I just take my ammA/appA to her and hit her head and show the thing that she took away from me. She has to give it back or give a long explanation to ammA/appA ;)

When pAdukA tries to set rules sternly, I answer her in the same tone and as loudly as I can. I think we understand each other as much and we share a special bond.
Dear akkA, happy growing up with me and here is to many many future adventures together.
