Butterfly in my stomach!

I had my first 911 (Emergency phone number in US) experience this month, and the next 10 days were the most grueling. Just like most people like me, I like foraging on the ground looking for interesting things to taste. Every once in a while, I will get lucky with some shiny larger object. It is amazing how very attractive things often taste bad and boring. So, in this rare case when my mother took her eyes off me for a few seconds, I tried to swallow this purple butterfly tinsel that my elder sister used for her art work (I refuse to say what I swallowed, but this is what my mother guesses I did).

It choked me and made me turn red and then blue. My mother called for some immediate help but before the paramedics visited me, I regained my breathing. It did hurt my throat enough for me to cry for a while. I was asked to see a pediatrician immediately. I behaved well enough in front of the doctor to be let go with just pain killers.

Every once in a while, it is very reassuring to see how much my parents care about me :)

After 2 days of no pooping and bursts of crying, my mother was convinced I needed more doctoral consultation. I kept drooling more frequently and picked up some cold and fever too. Now, it was time for some serious diagnosis. I am happy to say that I passed one of biggest tests I have had till today - the Esophogram test. My dad could not contain his excitement that I was the first member of the family to eat Barium! After 3-4 days, I started eating well, and now it is back to normal.

        • I got to visit 3 different hospitals, many doctors and heard my name so many times on the phone.
        • I got plenty of carrying-time from mom and dad and made my elder sister jealous of all the attention.

        • I have been barred from most interesting places. I hear the vacuum cleaner every day.
        • I keep moving on surfaces that are clinically clean and devoid of any exciting materials.
        • I am often strapped to chairs or rockers and get my mom and dad excited every time I make the action of chewing something.
