Time for Travel Insurance

A couple of weeks ago, I discovered the world of long distance travel. I experienced my first serendipity when I toppled over and suddenly found myself in another country - from plush-blanket land to brown-carpet land. I had been trying to drag myself along and after a 10-minute effort, I would have made 7 inches. I have no idea how these big people are able to do magic - they are here one second and suddenly they vanish. One minute, I am being kissed by a brown skin and right next, I see two long poles next to me, and then poof.. gone!

The big issue I have with my movement is that I find myself in some nooks I am not able to get out of. And then, there are these thin long threads which taste awesome, but I only hear my mother say "Madhura, no biting on wires!". I also seem to find delicious nuggets on the floor which even my elder sister is not able to see.

So, if you know any good travel insurance promotion packages for the locomotion-challenged, please give me the contact info of their chief baby agent.

My desperate baby sitter (or sister:)

My big sister is so loving that she crushes me with tight hugs and smothers me with kisses. While I bask in her affection, I sometimes struggle with her attacks of love. When my ammA decided to leave me with her to take a shower, I was a little tense. ammA told pAdukA that she has to take care of me well and make sure I do not cry for a few minutes otherwise "dum dum mAmA" (maintenance serviceman of our apartment) would come to our apartment to check. I thought it was a bad idea..but it turned out that I called the shots for a couple of minutes. My spying ammA captured it until my sis saw her :)

World from a different angle

Looking at the same old things around the house got me so bored that I decided to change it a little bit. For more than a week, I put in a LOT of effort (turned red in the process and my sis loved that color on me!) and cried to roll over. My pAtti was eager to see me roll over before she left for India and I was working on a deadline! On Sept 23rd, the day pAtti was leaving to India, I surprised myself! yay... I rolled over..just in time or so I thought. I saw ammA's happy beaming face saying "konjam muna panna kudAda kannamA?" (couldn't you have done this a little earlier?) pAtti had left an hour ago.. argh...!

Everything looks different now. I am rediscovering my house all over. I see large and small feet ones moving all around. I found a huge treasure under our couch that my big sis has accumulated :) shh... it's a secret I share with my big sis. Well, my next mission is to move around to find more treasures lying in the house.

My Animal Friends

I was just crying non-stop for 15 minutes when I noticed these two hummingbirds chasing each other and taking turns drinking off the feeder that my amma has bought for them. They sip a bit, and keep chirping around. I flail my arms rapidly like they wave their wings, but I can never do them off the ground. It reminded me that I should tell you all about my non-human animal friends.

Over the last two months, my vision has improved a lot.
I can look at things close to 7 feet away and see patterns.

The three friends I have enjoyed watching and talking to are

The big fish (and her sisters) who dances around above me
when I snuggle in my rocker.
The colorful macaw that is on the wall to my left.

The team of hummingbirds who keep visiting us to drink the nectar off the feeder in our balcony. These are my first and only live animals I have enjoyed seeing and talking to.

The fish and the macaw are always quiet, but the hummingbirds squeak from time to time to tell me they like me. :-)

PS: The most active best human friend I have is my big sis who is running around, chatt(er)ing and playing with me all the time!

What a wonderful home !

I am fascinated with the faces and expressions I see at my lovely home. Here is how I identify these faces...

(I was inspired by "what a wonderful world" (below) by Louis Armstrong)

I see some faces.... that are fresh and new
I stare at them.... to get a better view
And I think to myself.... what a wonderful home

I see a little face.... curious and bright
Playing all around.... shouting her might
And I think to myself.... what a wonderful home

A sleepy caring face.... comforting when I cry
And there is the singing face of  the only guy
I see a calm old face....  doting on me too
All these friendly faces.... say I love you

I hear their voices.... so happy, I know
It is so much fun.... in this family I grow
And I think to myself.... what a wonderful home

Hello World!

I waited much more than my sis
To see these wonderful faces is bliss!
Had to be their 6th anniversary gift
Faster than Fedex, my delivery was swift!
When I meet you, I sure will greet
For I hear, they named me Sweet!
I was born @ 12:59pm Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) on June 20, 2011 in El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, California. I weighed 6 lbs, 3.5 oz (a bag of fruit candies), and was 19 inches long.
My parents named me Madhura Shri Rangarajan, hoping that I will be sweet and pleasant always.
It was probably inspired by one of their favorite MS Subbulakshmi renditions of Madhurashtakam - (~5.5min of sweetness)

PS: Because my sister has been actively maintaining her blog, some of my cute pictures may appear there, but remember that the good stuff will always be here first :-)
